Haors of Jagannathpur

Jagannathpur is an upazila of Sunamganj district and is located in the middle of the division of Sylhet, Bangladesh.
Hazrat Shahjalal conquered Gour state in 1303. Eight of Shah Jalal companions arrived into Jagannathpur and preached Islam.
Naluwar Haor has been playing the biggest role in the production of all kinds of local fish. Naluwar Haor is the largest haor at Jagannathpur upazila. Haor is the largest source of paddy cultivation in the upazila which is grown in the winter season when water from the haor recedes.
During the monsoon season, one can travel to different places by river through Naluwar Haor. Apart from Jagannathpur upazila, this haor extends to Dirai and Chhatak upazilas.
Jagannathpur Upazila is a famous place for fish production. Naluwar Haor has been playing the biggest role in the production of all kinds of local fish.
