Sher-e-Bangla's house at Chakahar





 Sher Bangla was the Chief Minister of the undivided Bengal. His father's house is located at Chakhar village of Banaripara under Barishal district. Although he worked as a lawyer at Calcutta and Barishal, he used to visit and administer the paternal lands in the Chakhar.

There are many institutions in Bangladesh named after him, including Sher-e-Bangla Medical College and Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University. Sher-e-Bangla's real name is #Abul_Kashem_Fazlul_Haque, he is also known as Sher-e-Bangla #A.K._Fazlul_Haque and this is well known to the people of Bangladesh. He was also one of the leaders in the independence movement of the Indian Subcontinent. #Sher-e-Bangla was born in 1873 in Mia's house in the Saturia village of #Rajapur Union of then Barisal district. Although the birthplace of Sher Bengal was Rajapur, the home of his forefathers was in #Baufal Upazila of Patuakhali. He studied at Barisal District School and afterward, at the #Presidency_College of Calcutta. His father Kazi Mohammad Wazed was a lawyer by profession. He used to practice at Barisal Judge Court at Barishal. Sher-e-Bangla stood first in the entrance examination and passed in the first division in the F, A, examination at the Presidency College. His subjects of the study were Mathematics, Chemistry, and Physics at the graduation level. He obtained first-class marks in all the subject. Interestingly, even though he studied English at his post-graduation level, he obtained a first-class certificate in mathematics with only six months’ preparation. However, he adopted advocacy as a profession beyond everything else. However, after the death of his father, he started practicing advocacy at his father's place at Barishal in 1901.
