Professor Dr. Md. Jafar Ullah, Son of Late Haji Ashraf Ali Munshi and Moshammat Munsura Khatun, was born on Nov 1, 1958, IN the Village - MohishKhali,  Upazilla - Lalmohan,  District - Bhola, Bangladesh. Education S.S.C – Gazaria High School, Lalmohon, Bhola in 1974 H.S.C – BM College, Barisal in 1976 B.Sc.Ag. (Hons.) –  BAI (Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University, Dhaka in 1982) M.Sc. in Agronomy – Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU), Mymensingh in 1988;                                    – University of Nottingham, U.K. in 1993 Ph. D. – Jahangirnagar University, Dhaka in 2006
