Bukhaiagar River of Barishal

Bukhainagar River exposes its waterway for many launches and speed boats spying from Barishal to Laharhat and Bhola. On the way, you will find many beautiful villages, river coasts, betelnut orchards, forests, bazaars, cemented swimming stairs, educational institutes, and busy activities of the local peoples’ livelihood on both sides of its coasts. Especially, the flying speed of the speed boat running between Barishal and Bhola will charm your eyes. Bukhainagar River is one of the popular places in Barishal. You will have many attractive places named after the river Bukhainagar such as Bukhainagar Bridge, Bukhainagar high school, and Bukhainagar Bazar. The river is situated between the Kirtonkhola River and the Tetulia River. While you have to travel from Barishal launch ghat to Bhola by launch, your launch will cross the Bukahinagar River. Bukhainagar River is situated in the Charmonai Union of Barishal Sadar of Barishal district. Charmonai is near Barishal town and surrounded by the Kirtonkhola River in the west, Kalabadar River in the north, and Char Kowa Union in the south. The postal code of Bukhainagar is Barisal 8201. Barishal town is sometimes called Char Bukhainagar which is situated 107 kilometers north away from Dhaka city, the capital of Bangladesh. On the south bank of Bukhai Nagar River are, Saheber Haat and Lahar Haat of Charkawa, Durgapur Bazar, Chanpur Union, and Tungubaria Union respectively, from the west side. And on the north side bank are Biswaser Bazar and Charmonai area. However, after Saheber bazar at the south bank, a stream of Bukhai Nagar River went straight eastwards and fell into Baghai River at Lahar hat. Another stream bends northwards through Dingamani Bazar and Taltala Bazar of Charmonai and passes beside the Bukhai Nagar Bazar, and falls into the Arial Khan River. For going to Bhola, you can use both routes. Here you see the buffalos’ herd. Buffalos are social animals like humans, they like to live in groups. If you want to separate one buffalo from the group, you will need five people to do that. One of the five people will separate the buffalo from the group, and the other four will protect you from the other buffalos. Buffalo likes to stay in the water. The fleet of boats that you are watching, is Baidas’ fleet of boats. They have no home, live on boats, eat on boats, and also sleep on boats. Crowding the boat, they wander around the neighboring localities in search of their livelihood. Their women mainly sell varieties of products from village to village. In English, ‘Baidas’ are called ‘gypsy’ or ‘water gypsy’. Apart from selling goods, they also treat various diseases with herbal medicines. In these boatmen, you can also see the magic of witchcraft from someone of these Baidas. When you travel to Bhola-Barisal by launch, you will see the speedboats flying past beside the launch in a whirlwind speed. If you want to travel from Barisal to Bhola or Bhola to Barisal within forty minutes, you can also travel by speed boat. The launch usually takes double or triple the time. But don't take the risk of traveling by speed boats on a stormy day.
